There is a lot going on within Stanley Park. Projects that are fully supported by the Friends include:
Resubmission of the park for a Green Flag Award
Restoration of the floral clock
Starting the Stanley Extreme Park Project that will include the renovation of the existing skate park and basketball court into a modern extreme sports facility accommodating skateboarding, line skating, BMX and mountain biking.
Rangers are Improving the woodland areas through an active programme of tree management
Rangers are tree planting in the woodland areas
Re-establishment of the tree lined avenue along Cocker Walk
Campaign to raise issues of responsible dog ownership within the park.
Running the Parks Education Programme with local schools.
An exciting new programme of public events
Support and funding for Love Parks Week.
Salisbury Woodland experienced a transformation during 2009. Projects included:
Brand new main entrance archway feature, carved from locally sourced timber.
New way marker posts, carved from locally sourced timber.
Installation of new nature trail.
New seating and picnic furniture
Woodland management including thinning, crown lifting and pruning
Planting of more trees and woodland bulbs
Ditch evetment works
Installation of more bird and bat boxes
Weekly volunteer sessions with the Community Volunteers and Volunteer Rangers.
Running the Parks Education Programme with local schools.
An exciting new programme of public events.
