29th and 30th June 2019 Armed Forces Day and Ska Face, B&F Light Operatic for the Bandstand’s 90th Year Celebration

Two Big Events this weekend on Stanley Park Blackpool this weekend Saturday and Sunday 29th and 30th June 2019:

Saturday 29th June 2019 at 10am to 5pm:

Enjoy a full day of entertainment at Blackpool’s Stanley Park to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

A number of vintage and modern day military vehicles will form a static display in the Italian Gardens, including the Lytham St Anne’s Spitfire Ground Display Team. A real life Royal Navy Wildcat Helicopter from 815 Naval Air Squadron will attend with ground crew on hand to show you this stunning aircrafts features and answer your burning questions. Cheer on local military cadet forces as they battle it out for the Armed Forces Week trophy in a series of challenges led by the Royal Air Force.

Enjoy live musical entertainment at the Bandstand from the 4th Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s Band. If you are interested in a career within the Armed Forces pop in to the careers and information unit to have your questions answered and find out more details.

Come and see what other stands and displays are on offer including Military associations, local military cadet units, decommissioned Military items for all to view, and fun and games for all the family!

Armed Forces Day Blackpool 29th June 2019 on Stanley Park

Sunday 30th June 2019 at 12 noon to 4.30pm we have the Bandstands 90th Year Celebration and Ska Face, Blackpool & Fylde Light Operatic and Mel Ankers plus celebration guests.

At the bandstand next Sunday 30th June we are celebrating the 90th anniversary of the bandstand. The grand old lady has seen & experienced many events but none will be so special as next Sunday. The then & now themed party, will starts at 12 00 with speeches by Elaine Smith, Chairman of the Friends of Stanley Park & guest, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, John Barnett. Blackpool & Fylde Light Operatic Company will be singing songs from musicals from the 1920s to the 1950s. Our very own poet, Melvyn Anker will be reciting a poem hes written especially for this occasion. We will then be brought into the 21st century by Ska Face , one of the regions biggest bands. Bring a picnic & experience this memorable occasion. Mel was at the Sunday 23rd June event & gave us a quick preview of his poems.
